Acetylene Gas Manufacturing Unit

This unit manufactures acetylene gas, a highly efficient fuel gas used primarily for welding, cutting, and industrial heating. The production process involves the reaction of calcium carbide with water, followed by purification and compression into cylinders stabilized with acetone and a porous filler material.

Manufacturing process

  1. Feed calcium carbide granules into the water-filled reaction chamber using a generator with rotating screw and pressure controls.
  2. Agitate the chamber with rotating paddles to ensure complete reaction and prevent granule floating.
  3. Draw off the acetylene gas under low pressure and cool it using a water spray.
  4. Pass gas through a flash arrester and remove byproduct calcium carbonate slurry.
  5. Scrub the gas to remove ammonia and impurities using a purifier system.
  6. Compress the gas through three stages to reach final cylinder pressure.
  7. Pass through high-pressure dryers to remove moisture and oil vapors.
  8. Fill into cylinders containing liquid acetone and a porous filler material for safe transport.
