Air Bubble Sheet Manufacturing Unit

This project profile is for setting up an air bubble sheet manufacturing unit which produces low density polyethylene (LDPE) two-layer laminated films with entrapped air bubbles for cushioning and packaging. These sheets are widely used for fragile items, electronic goods, and pharmaceutical packaging due to their excellent shock absorption and water resistance properties.

Manufacturing process

  1. Feed LDPE granules into the hoppers of the 100 mm and 75 mm extruders where they are melted and plasticized.
  2. Force the molten material through the 2-layer nips of the T-die to form two simultaneous LDPE sheets.
  3. Pass the two layers through two silicon synthetic cooling rollers where air bubbles are thermoformed over one roller and simultaneously laminated by the secondary layer under pressure.
  4. Cool, trim, and move the formed layers forward using take-off rollers to the winder.

Market

The Indian packaging industry is growing rapidly with an estimated double-digit growth rate. Air bubble sheets are in high demand for packaging fragile items, electronics, and pharmaceuticals, offering a cost-effective alternative to expanded polystyrene.
