Anti-Corrosive Paints Making Unit

This project report outlines the establishment of a manufacturing unit for anti-corrosive paints utilizing cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) resin as a primary protective coating. These paints are widely used for marine vessels, chemical plants, and structural steel works to prevent degradation from moisture, oxidation, and acid fumes.

Manufacturing process

  1. Mix the pigment with sufficient vehicle (Resin Solution) to make a paste of the correct consistency for grinding.
  2. Grind the paste in a mill until the aggregates are broken down and proper fineness is achieved.
  3. Let down the ground paste with the remainder of the materials in the formula.
  4. Tint the batch to the required color.
  5. Perform testing to determine physical properties and performance requirements.
  6. Strain, fill, and pack the finished paint into containers.

Market

Anti-corrosive paints have a strong market potential, especially in coastal states for finishing boats and vessels, as well as in rapidly expanding chemical plants and structural steel applications.
