Manufacturing process

  1. Trim hanging strands and smooth out the exterior surface using sharp scissors to bring out design clarity.
  2. Wash the carpet with cleanser and rinse with clean water to remove dirt and extra cleanser.
  3. Dry the carpet under sunlight for four to five days.
  4. Perform rug shaving and leveling to enhance the design, tones, and pile height.
  5. Stretch the rug from all sides using a metal frame for a day or two to ensure precise size and shape.
  6. Apply protective fluoric-chemicals to preserve appearance and protect against discoloration and soiling.
  7. Apply backing systems such as a cushion, bonding adhesive, or synthetic latex/vinyl lamination for structural stability.

Market

India is the largest maker and exporter of floor coverings globally in terms of volume and value, with around 80% of rugs made in India being exported. The domestic market size is about Rs 200 crores and growing rapidly based on retail expansion.
