PP Box Strapping Manufacturing Unit

The unit manufactures PP (polypropylene) box strapping, which is widely used in the packaging industry for bundling, stabilizing, and reinforcing items for transport. The manufacturing process involves extruding a heated blend of PP resin and additives into straps, followed by stretching, embossing, printing, and heat-treating to ensure optimal tensile strength and durability.

Manufacturing process

  1. Mix PP resin with additives like plasticizer and stabilizer to create a homogenous blend.
  2. Feed the blend into an extruder where it is heated to a semi-solid state and forced through a die to form straps.
  3. Quench the extruded straps in a tank to cool and prevent deformation.
  4. Pass straps through a hot air tunnel oven under constant tension to elongate and reduce thickness.
  5. Pass through an embossing unit to generate a grip pattern and optionally through a printing unit.
  6. Relieve stresses in an annealing oven followed by a final cooling quenching tank.
  7. Wind the finished straps onto cardboard cores using a multi-station winder unit.

Market

The market for packaging strapping is growing due to increased demand in consumer electronics, logistics, e-commerce, and household appliances. PP strapping is particularly favored as an economical choice for light to medium-duty unitizing and palletizing.
