Manufacturing process

  1. Harvesting the amaranth crop as soon as panicle color changes from green to golden brown.
  2. Drying the panicles on a clean polythene sheet and threshing them using a thresher machine.
  3. Drying the threshed grains to achieve the correct moisture content of 11-13%.
  4. Delivering the grain to the milling plant via covered trucks.
  5. Cleaning the seeds to remove extraneous materials like stones and mud.
  6. Passing seeds through a magnetic separator to remove ferrous metal particles.
  7. Using gravity separators to sort kernels and grains based on weight.
  8. Grading the seeds for uniform size and quality.
  9. Weighing and packing the finished amaranth seeds into appropriate packages.

Market

Amaranth (Rajgira/Ramdana) is increasingly popular due to its high nutritional value, gluten-free pseudocereal nature, and rich antioxidant properties. Products can be marketed as health food, popped snacks, flour, or used in dietary supplements and cosmetics.
